Frontline Tactics
★★★★☆ 4.3
Frontline Tactics is slow in the best way. Each map hands you a small squad and a tricky objective, then dares you to think three turns ahead. There's no rushing — move the wrong unit into the open and you'll spend the next turn regretting it. I lost a lot early on, and every loss taught me something.
The campaign ramps up carefully, adding fog, elevation, and reinforcements one idea at a time. By the midpoint I was juggling cover, line of sight, and limited ammo like a proper armchair general. It plays wonderfully in portrait mode, which is rare for the genre.
If you like games you can pause and ponder, this one's a keeper. The AI isn't brilliant, but the puzzle-like scenario design more than makes up for it.
What we liked
- Thoughtful, puzzle-like missions
- Clean portrait-mode controls
- Difficulty that teaches rather than punishes
